In order to receive support, as a minimum you need to:

  1. Upgrade OGCS and reproduce the issue on the latest
  2. Provide your OGcalsync.log file (see instructions).

@scosmo Your log file does not show any evidence of it creating the 'FA Exec' or the 'FA Rep' series after you manually deleted them in Google. Neither have you said that the information it is providing is incorrect, for example for 'FA Exec', 'The occurrence on 3/26/2021 does not exist in Google, but does in Outlook.' - are you saying you can see the 26-Mar occurrence?

@JawadS Same goes for you, the occurrence OGCS is reporting as deleted in Google but not in Outlook, are you saying this is incorrect? If not, then he work around is already provided - manually delete them in Google. Unfortunately, there is no technical way to undelete a particular occurrence of a recurring series.

:memo: Use the below template to report your issue.
:bulb: Upgrade to the latest alpha release to check if the problem is already fixed.
:paperclip: To aid investigation, provide your OGcalsync.log file (see instructions).

OGCS Version: v2.8.6.0
Installed or Portable: Installed

Problem Description
I have 'Confirm deletions' enabled, and recently OGCS has been popping up in front of all other applications whenever there is a confirmation pop-up. As a result, three times in 10 minutes I accidentally deleted calendar events that shouldn't have been because I was in the middle of typing an email when the pop-up appeared. I'd recommend making the pop-ups default to the background, and do not automatically put the focus on the confirmation button.

Steps to Reproduce the Issue

  1. Be running OGC and typing something when the program requests deletion confirmation.

Any other information

The focus on 'No' worked great, thank you. And yes, it does appear that the release you mentioned has fixed my underlying problem of improper deletes. Great work all around!

Here are two screenshots of how a message which has been moved from the spam folder to the inbox appears in the inbox with OGCS open and then after OGCS has been closed.

I have no idea why but somehow it locks messages originally identified as spam and does not recognise that these messages are not spam when transferred to the inbox. These are messages identified as spam by Outlook rather than those identified as spam by Norton/Symantec. After several have been received OGCS shows multiple icons in the taskbar.

most probably not as our it is quite good and it is a not so small company. as I said I had the issues this morning and then some hours later found the calendar uptodate. Strange. I will give more information if problems come up again. Now it seems to work and I do not want to touch the config :)

In which case, that proves OGCS isn't holding any connection open in Outlook except for when it is actively syncing - and therefore I can't see how it's apparently affecting the spam protection or how to troubleshoot further..

I think what you describe is probably #1123 and was fixed in v2.8.6. Have you noticed it sync upgrading to that release?

I'm rather confused - the log excerpt you provided in your opening post is already from the latest alpha v2.8.6, which contains the error.

So essentially, you didn't change anything and it started working? Smacks of your IT admins fiddling with the Exchange security configuration to me!!

Thanks for your response Paul. I haven't tried the new version yet, butwill shortly.

I have previously tried the troubleshooting steps you've linked to in thewiki. Part of the reason I have 'Confirm deletions' permanently turned onis because OGCS frequently attempts to delete items I've just created inOutlook. Often I will create an item in Outlook and almost immediately I'llhave a popup asking me if I want to delete the item I just created. Perhapsit's a timing issue? Is it possible that I'm creating these items in thegap between the two unidirectional syncs? Does OGCS pull all items fromboth calendars and merge to find differences, or does it only do twounidirectional syncs back to back?

📦 I've there opted to set the default focus on the 'No' button - pleasetry the development build v2.8.6.9.ziphttps://github.com/phw198/OutlookGoogleCalendarSync/files/6332009/v2.8.6.9.zip(see instructions for applyinghttps://github.com/phw198/OutlookGoogleCalendarSync/wiki/Reporting-Problems#applying-a-hotfixin the same way as a hotfix).

Please let me know how it goes.

Note, deletion confirmations are really intended for initial testing ofOGCS and not to always be left on - if you constantly get these popups it'san indication something isn't right. To resolve them as a one off, followthis wiki pagehttps://github.com/phw198/OutlookGoogleCalendarSync/wiki/Hints-&-Tips#fixing-a-stubborn-unwanted-deletion-with-full-sync;if new occurrences keep appearing then this likely needs me to investigatewhat might be causing it.

update: I just checked my Google calendar and now the entries are available. I have no idea why that is. I triggered another manual sync and now it seems to work. Effectively, I did not change anything except installing the latest alpha. Therefore it looks like my issue is solved for now. Sorry for the inconvenience.

@phw198: I tried the newest alpha and still have the same issue. No single appointment is synced. It looks like creating events is failing. An error appears for every event. No popup from Outlook is shown. I am happy to try out any workaround you suggest.

In my settings, it says: <AddAttendees>false</AddAttendees>

The error shows:Console [278] - Operation aborted (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004004 (E_ABORT))OGCSexception [28] - System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException: Operation aborted (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004004 (E_ABORT))OGCSexception [21] - Code: 0x80004004,-2147467260; Location: get_Recipients() in <Unknown File>OGCSexception [65] - at Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook._AppointmentItem.get_Recipients()

I do not need the recipients for sync but I do not find a setting on how to exclude them.

thank you!Thomas

@daniluvsuall I think the main issue with your 'Azure Training (DCo)' appointment is that the Google event has been modified more recently than Outlook and therefore OGCS isn't bothering to compare it. There is a slight side-issue here though, where the Outlook IDs held in the Google synced item have changed (due to the organiser changing the time), but the IDs as held in Google are not getting saved.

With the below hotfix could you:

Mimestream Calendar

  1. Apply the hotfix and make sure OGCS is logged at DEBUG level at least.
  2. Run two manual syncs consecutively.
  3. Once they are complete, open the 'Azure Training' Outlook item and make a faux edit (eg add and remove a space from the title, then save and close).
  4. Perform a final manual sync
  5. Upload your logfile

:package: Hotfix v2.8.6.10.zip (see instructions for applying).

Please let me know how it goes.

Yes the cog appears with a message about another program using Outlook and to disconnect and exit etc. After the sync the icon with cog disappears until the next sync.

This is really a duplicate of #165 for syncing multiple calendars and configuration profiles.

Until development of that is completed, have a read through that issue as you could achieve them same by running multiple instances of OGCS each with their own XML config file.

I have a few different Sync workflows (copying items between different calendars), so it would be nice to have a Save/Load feature with a Dropdown to select different XML config files to streamline the action.

Other options currently are to manually change settings for each sync or to rename config files to change 'Profiles' manually.

This is fairly low priority overall. Thank you again!

With Outlook closed, could you start OGCS and then run a sync. In your system tray, a little Outlook icon with a cog over it should appear (hover-over says something about programmatic access). Once the sync has completed, does this icon disappear after a few seconds?
