Audition was working just fine for me for a while but recently the audio it was been recording is very quiet. To the point that in order to hear what was recorded I have to crank my speakers and computer volume all the way up to hear even a little bit of what was recorded. Just record on top of what you did before (Make sure that you are recording sound on sound rather than overwrite) and then move the ends of the tracks so they fit together or crossfade. That gives you a lot more flexability. Or you could just record on another track, edit it to fit, and then drag it to the other track. Audio channels refer to a stream of recorded sound, and Audition allows us to record in mono, stereo, or surround sound. Bit depth refers to the resolution of the audio file — a higher bit depth will provide a higher-quality audio file, while a lower bit depth will result in lower quality audio.

Step 1Run FoneLab Screen Recorder
Free download, install and launch FoneLab Screen Recorder. This section will show you the Windows version. To record audio on Windows computer, choose Audio Recorder in the main interface.
Step 2Record audio on your computer
Record internal audio: To record audio from video or music on your computer, turn on System Sound. Make sure Microphone is turned off. Only the sound coming from your computer will be recorded. Then adjust the volume bar below.
Record external audio: If you want to record voice on computer, you can turn on Microphone and turn off System Sound. Thus, the internal audio will be ignored.
Record internal & external audio: During this time, turn on both System Sound and Microphone options. As a result, you can record system sound and your voice simultaneously.
Step 3Adjust audio recording settings
MP3 is the default output audio format. If you want to make changes, you can click the More settings on the top right corner. Here you can set the audio format and quality.
Step 4Record computer sound
Click REC to start recording audio on your Windows computer. You can pause and resume audio recording to skip unwanted parts. Click Stop to stop recording sound on computer. Later, click Save followed by Next to export the audio recording file.

Step 3Click the drop-down icon beside. Choose Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio) (loopback). Thus, you can record audio coming from your computer.
Step 4Click Transport on the top toolbar. Select Transport Options. Remove the checkmark before Software Playthrough.

Introduction: How to Easily Record Sounds in Adobe Audition CS5.5
Ever needed a quick audio file for a movie but didn't know how to work your program?! With this Instructable, I will teach you how to make a quick audio file in Adobe Audition CS5.5 in under 5 minutes! All you need is- A USB Microphone

- Your voice
Step 1: Start Up a New File
First things first is we need to start up a new audio file. Audition will start you up on a blank, empty screen, so you can't record just yet. It should look like the picture below. What you need to do here is click 'File', hover over 'New' then click 'Multitrack Session' or hit the key combo Ctrl + M. You will then get a balloon asking what you want to name your file and where to save it's contents. Do these accordingly to your preferences and move onto the next step.
Step 2: Begin Recording
Now that we have our session started up, let's begin the quick prep work. Click on the small letter box 'R' in any of the tracks to prep that track for recording. (The button is highlighted in the yellow circle below, in case you cannot find it). Your USB mic should be plugged in by this point to have something to record with. Below all of the tracks are a basic set up of buttons with 'Play', 'Loop', 'Fast Forward' and more, like any old tapedeck. Hit the round, Red, record button to start recording. Record what you will then hit the stop button. Easy as that.
Step 3: Saving the File As an MP3
Here is the part that a lot of people, (myself once included) have problems with. How to save your sounds you just made as an MP3 file. What you need to do is hit 'File', hover over 'Export' then hover over 'Multitrack Mixdown' then hit the last button, 'Entire Session'. This will open up one last balloon asking you what you want to name it, where you want to save it, and select what file format to save it as. Complete the following items then save. And your done! Congrats, you just made your own sound file, ready to use for a movie or any other project you may have!
