Please note: Your account must have the appropriate permissions to enable integrations with Slack.

Slack actions in Butler

You can find the actions available for Slack under the Slack section. These actions are available in all types of Butler commands.

Butler by default is designed to send messages to public channels, however private channels can be selected along with DMs to specific members.

Private channels

In order for Butler to send a message to a private channel, the Butler App in Slack must first be added to that channel. Open the info panel for the channel and select 'More'. Select 'Add Apps', then search for Butler and add it to the channel.

Slack DMs

Adding the app isn't required for sending a DM to a specific person. Instead of entering a channel name, enter the Slack username along with an @ symbol prepending it, such as @janesmith.

Removing the connections

To remove the connection between Butler and Jira/Slack, open the Connected Apps section and select either 'Revoke access to your JIRA account' or 'Remove your Slack workspace connection(s)'.
